Mayur Shetty, CEO Blackfrog Technologies in an interview says, "We all have known someone who has tested positive despite both the vaccine shots and there's a much deeper issue there, than straight-forward vaccine wastage.” He adds, as per a study done by a couple of health ministries in Cochin and 10 other states, 65% of all vaccines were subjected to freezing temperatures at some point. This is extremely crucial now as both Covaxin and Covishield are freeze sensitive which means we should not be subjected to sub-zero temperatures as it loses its potency. So the vaccines which are stored in the iceboxes might have already lost its potency as ice in itself is frozen. Also, there is no way to monitor the temperature in the iceboxes that are used to carry the vaccines. That means there is no way of knowing whether the vaccines that we are receiving are potent or not, which is a huge challenge and that is the mission they have taken over at Blackfrog Technologies to replace the ice boxes with portable medical-grade refrigerators that can be carried and bring accountability with last-mile transport of vaccines.
